These types of Korean cuisine were approved fit for space food by the Russia’s Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP) after passing through a set of rigorous feasibility tests.

Let me introduce some of the items.

First of all, there is “stir-fried kimchi.” It is kimchi, but with the characteristic pungent smell much reduced and the intense taste significantly toned down, so that anybody could enjoy its pleasantly sweet and spicy taste coupled with steamed rice.

Next is “gochujang (chili pepper paste)” heat-sterilized to meet the anti-bacterial standard of space food. For long-term preservation, it is thoroughly frozen, made into powder, and then is placed in double vacuum packaging that effectively shields it from air, light and humidity. In addition, to suit foreigners’ milder palate, some of the spicy and salty flavors of the original gochujang have been adjusted with enhanced sweetness by, for example, adding tomato sauce.

As for “red ginseng,” six-year-old ginseng is extracted and pulverized into fine powder, which then you drink as tea. It will strengthen the astronauts’ immune system. And don’t worry, it wouldn’t taste as bitter as you imagine! A certain amount of customization is done here as well. A bit of seasoning is added to reduce the bitter flavor.

There is another drink item, “green tea.” Organically grown in the Bosung region of Jeollanam-do Province, the very highest quality green tea leaves are hand-picked and processed using the most advanced hygienic facilities. Green tea is said to have many health benefits for it is abundant in polyphenols which act as antioxidants.

In addition to the above items, other Korean cuisine such as bulgogi (Korean marinated beef), japchae (glass noodles), bibimbap (vegetables mixed with rice) pumpkin porridge, sikhye (rice punch), and Korean curry have also joined the list of space food.

Russian experts commented, “Although some of the astronauts are yet to get accustomed to the spiciness of such food as gochujang and stir-fried kimchi, those stimulating flavors will help boost their appetite, which is highly critical in a long space journey.”

So far there are about 400 kinds of space food in the world, 200 from the United States, 130 from Russia and another 70 kinds from countries like China, Japan and Europe. With Korean items taking up only 20 of the list, there is still so much room for further research and development. Efforts will be continued!

Ahh, I can only imagine what these foods must taste like in the vast, vast universe in a spaceship. Must be extraordinary!

Jadi begini ceritanya*curhat..

Semester ini aku mengambil mata kuliah Statistic management,yang bisa dibilang susah *bagi gw…cuma satu  yang bikin diriku bertahan di kelas itu,dosennya ganteeengg!..ckckckck hhmmm beliau warga negara korea dengan umur skitar 30 an * i think so.. tapi udah bergelar Prof. dahsyat!

Walaupun  pelajarannya berkelumit sangat banyak dengan angka-angka, tapi karena dosen tersebut menjelaskan dengan senyum lebar dan bahasa inggris yang faseh! duuhh belajar terasa menyenangkan *lebay mode:on..

hihi..lumayanlaahh biarpun stres ngitung-ngitung, tapi sedikit ada ‘pencerahan’. Hhmm ..tapiii bisa diprediksi.. soal ujian nanti bisa sangat berkelumit. Soalnya dosen ini masih fresh banget gelar Prof. nya, dan masih doyan utak-atik soal.. kemungkinan bakal banyak variasi soal yang membuat pusing kepala.. Tiiidaaaakkkk!!*stresss…

Di hari sabtu seperti ini,cukup sepi…._zzziinnggg_..

Secretary General of the German Coffee Association Holger Preibisch said German coffee consumers liked the Indonesia’s Robusta and Arabica coffees due to their special tastes and good quality.  Holger’s meeting with the Indonesian Consul General in Hamburg Teuku Darmawan recently was also attended by  main German coffee importers.

At the meeting, Teuku Darmawan hoped that Indonesia could export more coffee to Germany this year. Therefore, the Indonesian Consulate General in the Hamburg-based Indonesian Trade Promotion Center would work with the German coffee association to promote Indonesian coffee.

In addition, Indonesia also planned to participate in some international coffee promotion events this year, he said. Over the past years,  German coffee consumers have known such Indonesian coffee as Luwak, Toraja, Flores and Aceh-Gayo coffees.

They enjoyed these various Indonesian coffee at cafes in Germany.  In 2009, Indonesian coffee exports reached 108 million Euros,  down about 25 percent compared to that of 2008.

Seneng juga ketemu temen-temen kuliah lagi..tapiiiiiiii…masalah baru pun dimulai!!
Begini…semua subject yang aku registered itu sebagian besar berbahasa inggris..jadi otomatis bukunya pun harus mengikuti bahas inggris *ya iyalaahh ga mungkin juga aku tahan baca buku bahasa korea*..naahh! masalahnya ituu bukunya tuh udah tebel+ mahal nyaaaa naujubilah!!…

Perhitungannya itu..satu buku sekitar 38.000-40.000won..hhmm kalo mau di change ke IDR mungkin skitar RP304.000 – 350.000 an *itu satu buku lhoo,,dan aku mesti beli sekitar 4 buku!!..hadooohhh =(((… mari coba aku kalikan yaaa..kalo satu nya aja 300rb rupiah an berarti untuk 4 buku bisaaaaa hhmm 1,2juta rupiaahh!?? whatt??!! hadoohh..ckckckckckckckckckckkcck =(((…

Ternyata di tahun ini Komisi pemilihan umum Korea menetapkan sistem 8 suara per orang untuk pemilihan daerah* nah lho?! kok byk yaaa??…jadi gini ya sodara-sodaraaa…tiap warga korea selatan mempunyai hak 8 buah suara untuk memilih  gubernur, bupati/walikota dan camat, anggota DPRD dan DPD serta inspektur dinas pendidikan dan anggota dewan pendidikan..hhmm jadi intinya mungkin bisa dibilang Borongan gitu..dan ini akan di terapkan pertama kali di pemilihan daerah 2 juni mendatang..hhmmm seru juga yaaa,penasaran juga bakal kaya apa sih hasilnya *tunggu liputan ku 2 juni mendatang -haha-

Tapi gimana ya kalo Indonesia menerapkan sistem borongan gitu..?**hhmm..-mikir+ngelus2 dagu-

Karena sedikit penasaran sebenernya libur apaan disini, makanya deh aku langsung meluncur ke dunia maya..hhmm ternyataaa..tanggal 1 maret itu Hari Pererakan kemerdekaan Korea dan kebetulan tahun 2010 ini bertepatan dengan  100 tahun nya hari invasi Jepang ke korea..hhmm..interesting juga ya sampe di itungin gitu..

Ditahun 2010 ini,merupakan hari peringatan pergerakan kemerdekaan Korea yang ke -91 lhoo..

Cerita dulunya niihh..Pada tanggal 1 Maret 1919, rakyat Korea melakukan pergerakan kemerdekaan di seluruh Korea untuk memprotes penjajahan Jepang, dengan 33 perwakilan nasional mendeklarasikan kemerdekaan Korea…

waaahh hari nasional kaya gini makin memperkuat nasionalisme mereka aja nih kayanya..*bagaimana dengan kita?

Usut punya usut..ternyata orang korea disini bersahabat banget sama yang namany operasi plastik!! yang mungkin jadi salah satu faktor kemiripan mereka smua,,beuuuuhhhh… disini laku banget deh tuh dokter bedah plastik, tapi tentunya dengan keahlian yang sangat terjamin..

Kalo bisa aku kasih contoh kecil…hhmmm dari kelopak mata!,,mata mereka ini kan sipit banget naujubillah kaya garis doang gitu kaann*maap..naahh mereka pengen banget punya mata belo!..laluu akhiranya sebagian besar cewe2 disini tuh udah operasi kelopak mata ..itu hal kecil banget buat mereka..*tinggal sentil doang deh!-lebay-

Salah satu temen koreaku juga udah banyak yang operasi kelopak mata. Kabarnya lagii…mereka bahkan ada yang diSURUH operasi sama orang tua mereka dari sejak remaja..hhmm bayangin tuh!kecil2 udah dikenalin sama operasi bedah plastik…

Makanyaa jangan heran kalo kesini dan ngeliat mukanya pada mirip..yaa meskipun sebenarnya kulit asli mereka emang udah mulus,,tapiii..kebanyakan mereka ga pede dan ada aja yang di operasi…hehe*jadi ga asli deh

Operasi plastik disini juga udah ada di tahap “danger” *lho?..iyaaaa..disini operasi plastik udah kaya barang kecil banget,yang kaya tertulis diatas..sampe anak-anak remaja sekitar 13 thnan juga udah banyak yang di operasi plastik*kasiaaann…

Well..Tapi ini bisa jadi buat rekomen kali ya..buat kalian-kalian yang mungkin habis kecelakaan dan ga yakin sama dokter-dokter bedah plastik indonesia..mungkin South Korea bisa jadi pilihan bagus ^_^
